Hi There Admin,
I take your point, I want to replace a huge chandelier with a ceiling fan. I have a narrow beam that is holding up the chandelier, do I need a bigger support beam to hold the fan up? The fan weighs a couple more pounds than the chandelier. I have 116 year old plaster ceilings that i don’t want to damage, any suggestions?

Maybe a little off topic, however, Or, are people entitled to a choice? And, if they can ban a light bulb, does it logically follow that they can ban certain foods that they deem harmful to humans?

G’Day! Admin,
I take your point, I’m looking for chandelier ceiling fans, but not the kind that seem to be readily available everywhere as “chandelier ceiling fans”.
I’m trying to find the kind that has the fan part close to the ceiling and then has the chandelier part drop down from the middle of the fan.
I’m interested in the more contemporary lines. Do these even exist?

Currently all I can find is where the fan and lighting part drop down from the ceiling together, which wouldn’t work for my purpose!
Any help/links would be greatly appreciated!

Firstly,
RE EU allowable Chandelier light bulbs

ALL replacement type incandescents including flame shaped halogen candles etc are banned before 2016
= this means NO beautiful transparent type chandelier lighting will be allowed from 1 Jan 2016 as current legislation stands
See EU regulations.

Hi there,

If you do not have a plate hook installed then a carpenter need to locate a joist in the ceiling and screw the plate hook firmly into that. If there is no joist in the right place then he will need to add a bracer between the 2 neighbouring joists
